Canopée Gestão Ambiental Florestal S.A is a Climatech that operates in the management of forest areas in the Acre and Amazon regions, through forest rehabilitation, recovery and restoration interventions that seek to guarantee the preservation of ecosystems.
Climatech was born from the desire of a small group of businessmen and executives, of international standing, who decided to actively participate in socio-environmental actions. Concerned about the planet and with the desire to leave a legacy for future generations, they united skills and experience to transform the idea into important projects that aim to protect the environment and the guardian communities that live in the environmental protection and preservation areas.
The projects developed by Canopée allocate part of the financial resources from the commercialization of carbon credits to the promotion of socio-environmental projects in indigenous lands and other protected areas, benefiting local communities and their autonomy.
Canopée understands the importance of an efficient and reliable performance in the long term, and also recognizes the necessity of the involvement of different local actors for the success in this process, therefore acts in a synergic way with public, private, governmental and non-governmental institutions, research and extension institutions, associations and key leaderships.
After two years of dedication in identifying and articulating with renowned institutions to consolidate a robust ecosystem, in July 2021, happened the signature of a protocol of intentions, in which 11 institutions expressed their interest in acting together with the Canopée.
In October 2022, happens the celebration of a technical and financial cooperation agreement between Canopée and SEBRAE/AC – with the mission of “Foment the small businesses of Acre as the main motor force of sustainable development, articulating and mobilizing a network of agents”. This agreement was signed aiming to stimulate the mobilization of stakeholders for the development of initiatives that strengthen the small business ecosystem in Acre, generating their evolution in all spheres: financial, human, technical, operational, and socio-environmental.
According to the Canopée’s Director of Socio-Environmental Projects, Mirella Vargas, the support and strengthening of the productive chains of Açaí, Oils, native Cocoa and other chains with economic potential in the State of Acre, in order to connect them to markets that are matures, sustainables, innovatives, fairs and inclusives, is fundamental to improve the economic, social and environmental indicators in the region.
Canopée believes that entrepreneurs and small businesses have a fundamental role in transition economies, so the desire is that these projects are the basis for the development of Acre with emphasis on “Bioeconomy and Sustainability”.
