The Amazon is one of the world’s natural wonders, an incomparable source of biodiversity and vitality for our planet. However, it faces constant threats, not least from deforestation. This is where the Yuxibu Project comes in, an initiative that aims to protect the native Amazon rainforest and its incomparable wealth of life, as well as promoting ecologically sustainable, economically prosperous and socially just development for local communities.
Started in 2005 and ending in 2021, the Yuxibu Project has achieved remarkable results. By avoiding deforestation, the project has managed to prevent the emission of 715,051 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2eq) into the atmosphere. This achievement not only contributes to stabilizing the global climate, but also preserves the Amazon’s unique biodiversity and protects the essential ecosystem services it provides.
