Part of the profit from the carbon credits provided by the Canopée is reinvested in projects that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, improve the quality of life of the guardian communities, preserve biodiversity, and actively act against climate change.
The Yuxibu Project aims to protect the native Amazon forest and its enormous biodiversity from deforestation pressures, and to promote ecologically sustainable, economically prosperous and socially fair development for local communities. It began in 2005 and aims to reduce carbon emissions by 3.311.169 tonCO2eq over a period of 30 years.
