Environmental Projects

Why do we care for the planet and people when we invest in Canopée carbon credits?

Part of the profits from carbon credits provided by Canopée are reinvested in projects that reduce greenhouse gas (GEE) emissions, improve the quality of life of guardian communities, preserve biodiversity and actively combat climate change.

The Amazon is one of the world's natural wonders, an unparalleled source of biodiversity and vitality for our planet. However, it faces constant threats, most notably deforestation. This is where the Yuxibu Project comes in, an initiative that aims to protect the native Amazon rainforest and its incomparable wealth of life, as well as promote ecologically sustainable, economically prosperous and socially just development for local communities. Begun in 2005 and completed in 2021, the Yuxibu Project has achieved remarkable results. By preventing deforestation, the project has managed to prevent the emission of 715,051 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2eq) into the atmosphere. This achievement not only contributes to the stabilization of the global climate, but also preserves the Amazon's unique biodiversity and protects the essential ecosystem services it provides.
