Canopée Gestão Ambiental Florestal S.A is a Climatech that operates in the management of forest areas in the Acre and Amazonas regions through rehabilitation, recovery and forest restoration interventions that seek to guarantee the preservation of ecosystems.
Climatech was born from the desire of a small group of international businessmen and executives who decided to actively participate in socio-environmental actions. Concerned about the planet and wanting to leave a legacy for future generations, they combined skills and experiences to transform the idea into important projects that aim to protect the environment and the guardian communities that live in the areas of environmental protection and preservation.
The projects developed by Canopée allocate part of the financial resources from the sale of carbon credits to the promotion of socio-environmental projects on indigenous lands and other protected areas, benefiting local communities and their autonomy.
Canopée understands the importance of efficient and reliable long-term action and also recognizes the need for the involvement of different local stakeholders for success in this process. Therefore, it works synergistically with public, private, governmental and non-governmental institutions, educational, research and extension institutions, associations and key leaders, always aspiring to provide complete alignment of the various sectors with public policies.
After two years of great dedication in identifying and coordinating with renowned institutions
to consolidate a robust ecosystem, a protocol of intentions was signed in July 2021, in which 11 institutions expressed their interest in working with Canopée.
In October 2022, a technical and financial cooperation agreement will be signed between Canopée and SEBRAE/AC – with the mission of promoting small businesses in Acre as the main driving force for sustainable development, by articulating and mobilizing a network of agents. This agreement was signed with the aim of encouraging the mobilization of interested parties to develop initiatives that strengthen the ecosystem of small businesses in Acre, generating their evolution in all spheres: financial, human, technical, operational and socio-environmental.
According to Canopée's Director of Socio-Environmental Projects, Mirella Vargas, supporting and strengthening the production chains of Açaí, Oils, Native Cocoa and other chains with economic potential in the State of Acre, in order to connect them to mature, sustainable, innovative, inclusive and fair markets, is essential to improving economic, social and environmental indicators in the region.
Canopée believes that entrepreneurs and small businesses play a fundamental role in economies in transition, which is why the hope is that these projects will be the basis for the development of Acre with an emphasis on “Bioeconomy and Sustainability”.
