Rui Pedro Ribeiro

Business Development Director

Co-founder of Elio and now CEO of the company, he has over 30 years of experience, 15 of which were in business management and implementation of projects related to the agroforestry sector in Brazil. Before entering the business world, Rui Pedro Ribeiro began his career as a military officer in the Portuguese Navy, where he developed leadership, mission and technical skills. He later worked as a researcher in the Natural Resources Economics and Management Group, a group from which Metacortex was formed, and later participated in the creation of the Metacortex Group, of which he was Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Director until 2015. 2010. He worked as Director and Business Developer at Yser Timberland Investments and as CEO of the Agrocortex Group until 2016, being responsible for the implementation of the largest sustainable forest management project in the State of Acre, Brazil.

Rui Pedro Ribeiro has a degree in Forestry Engineering from the Instituto Superior de Agronomia of the Technical University of Lisbon. He holds a postgraduate MBA in Information Systems and Technology Management from the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão of the same university, an Advanced Degree in Management (AMD) from IESE Business School at the University of Navarra and the Trends Update Program (PAT) from ISA Business School in São Paulo. Throughout his career he has co-authored 28 scientific articles, 3 of which were peer-reviewed. Rui Pedro Ribeiro also has an award for the best postgraduate student and a medal awarded by NATO for services in the former Yugoslavia while serving in the Portuguese Navy.
